It depends on your use case and where you live. In metro cities, it's widely accepted and I majorly use it for Gyfr vouchers and then for flight bookings. If you get the Amex Trio, use the Gold Card for 1 year (don't renew), MRCC from 2nd year onwards and Plat Travel for the rest. The never expiring MR points are a big win and you get 1:1 transfer to Marriott Bonvoy points which is usually the best conversion. I agree that if this is the only card you have, you might struggle with acceptance but otherwise, it's a good card to have.

Depends on what you redeem it for honestly. If you redeem it for Marriott points, you can get a value of roughly 1K from it. Also, 2K is additional (referral bonus) to the 10K MRP that you get when you get a Platinum Travel Card.
