Axis Bank Credit Card rejection

Applied for Axis Credit Card and got an email for rejection. Reason below.

Application rejected for Applicant pulled Cibil report 1 month vintage validity expired.

Anyone know what this means? I have an Axis Prestige Savings account and a good CIBIL score - 790+ when I checked recently.

Online application? If its online u can request clarification/review by posting on axis twitter handle or calling axis customer care.
Yes. It was an online application. I've sent an email to the PNO. Waiting for response. Their customer care is useless. Called them twice and gave the service number and they said they can't find it in their system so can't help.

However, banks typically consider a CIBIL report valid for a specific period (usually 30 days). This period is known as the vintage validity window.
If the report pulled during your application process exceeds the 30-day window by the time your application is processed or reviewed, the bank will consider it "expired" and may not proceed further with the application. This happens because the bank assumes the information might no longer be up-to-date.

Instead of re-pulling the CIBIL report (which costs the bank money and requires your authorization), the system automatically flags the application as rejected if the "vintage" (validity) of the pulled report has expired.
Even if you have a good credit score and a strong account history, delays in processing your application may result in the expiry of the vintage validity period.
Sometimes many banks rely on automated systems to process applications. These systems might not re-check the CIBIL score after the vintage window closes unless triggered manually.

Steps to Resolve This:
1. Contact Axis Bank
- Visit your nearest branch or contact Axis Bank's credit card department. Explain the situation and request clarification on the rejection.
- Since you hold a **Prestige Savings Account**, you likely qualify for premium customer service. Use this leverage to escalate the issue.

2. Reapply for the Credit Card
- You can reapply immediately, ensuring that the bank pulls a fresh CIBIL report. Since your CIBIL score is high (790+), you have good chances of approval.

3. Verify and Update Information
- Ensure that the information provided during your application is accurate. Sometimes minor discrepancies (e.g., outdated contact details) can cause delays in processing.

4. Use Internal Referrals
- If possible, request a referral from your Axis branch manager or relationship manager. This can expedite your application.

5.Request Re-evaluation:
- Ask if the bank can re-evaluate your application with a fresh CIBIL report instead of rejecting it outright.

To avoid this problem in the Future u must follow so me points:
- If you receive updates regarding delays in your application, follow up with the bank to ensure your CIBIL report remains valid.
- Consider applying for credit cards directly through your Axis Netbanking portal. Existing customers often face fewer delays.

With your strong financial profile and good CIBIL score, this rejection seems to be a technicality rather than a reflection of your eligibility. By addressing the issue with the bank, you should be able to get the card approved.

Thanks Nikita .. I had applied through the Axis Netbanking portal. I had visited the branch twice and spoke to an executive who didn't care to even understand the issue and only reply was call the customer care center. I called the customer care center twice and gave my application ID and they said they can't find it in the system. I think this was more of a technical issue. I've emailed the PNO and will wait for response from them and if they say it was a technical issue from their side, I will apply again.

This is a long standing procedural lapse they have. I had applied for Axis card as well (Kiwi card through their app and it did not go through and I got a call from Axis Bank they someone will come to home and collect physical application). The person took Aadhar based authentication and provided me an application number and I got a msg 2-3 days later that application with that number was under process and it was also showing on website. However after a few days it stopped showing up and started showing that the application number was wrong and I put a complain noting my application number but customer care executive told there is no such application in system. After 2 months or so the request was rejected stating generic reason like does not fit bank internal policy which does not mean anything.
