I am about to renew my passport for which the address proof i am submitting is the bank passbook of HDFC Bank. The bank account is opened one month ago. My question is do passport official will accept the one month old passbook as the address proof? or is there any criteria for the bank passbook to be month old?

Hey there! 🌟

When it comes to using a bank passbook as address proof for your passport renewal, the key requirement is that it should be a photo passbook of a running bank account from a scheduled public sector or private sector bank. As per my experience, HDFC don't issue Photo Passbook. (A “photo passbook” means a passbook that includes your photograph and account details, issued by the bank. It’s not just a xerox copy of the passbook. The passport office requires this to verify your identity and address)

The good news is that there isn't a specific age requirement for how long the account must be open.

However, it's always a good idea to double-check with the passport office or refer to the official guidelines to ensure everything goes smoothly.
