Chasing HDFC Infinia for 2+ years – but every time my bank/RM moves the goalpost

I’ve been trying to get an upgrade to HDFC Infinia for the last 2 years now, and honestly, it’s getting super frustrating.

Initially, the reason was salary not sufficient.

Once I hit ₹3L/month, they said the guideline was ₹10L credit limit.

After I got that, the guideline “changed” again – now either:
- Salary of ₹5L+, OR
- Limit >10L with last 6 month’s spending of 8–10L.

So I diverted all my spends to my Regalia and managed to spend ₹9L in a six month. Thought that would finally do it… but now they’re again saying ₹5L monthly salary is a must.

For context:
- I hold a Regalia Gold with ₹11L limit.
- Been with HDFC for 8+ years.

RM is offering me Diners Club Black Metal, but many of my recurring spends (insurance, utilities, etc.) don’t go through on DCB, so that’s not useful for me.

At this point it feels like the bank just keeps moving the bar whenever I meet the last condition.

Has anyone else faced this? Any recommendations on what I should do next? Should I try another channel, or is it just not worth chasing anymore?

Based on my spending, I won't be able to use DCB.
And with 3lakhs per month salary, I won't be eligible for ICICI Private Emeralde.

I’ve been through a similar situation and it was quite frustrating. Despite having both my salary account and home loan with HDFC, they still didn’t upgrade me from Regalia to Infinia. Out of frustration, I eventually closed the Regalia card and stopped using any HDFC credit card altogether.

Interestingly, last month I noticed through NetBanking that I was suddenly eligible for the Infinia Metal card — and I’ve now received it.

In the meantime, you can also consider applying for the ICICI Emerald card, which is a very good alternative.
