Enforcing to close or merge a demat account of employees to their working company

Can a company or entity enforce their employees to close or merge the existing demat account to it's own company's demat broker?? & if not so, where I have to complain or do enquiry for the issue as our company is enforcing to merge our existing demat accounts with the company's broker firm.

I believe, in writing they can recommend to work thru a particular broker.
But cannot force to work thru a particular broker.
They would ask their management people to verbally force other workforce on this, but never in writing.
Usual corporate...

Obviously so many assumptions here....
