How I Paid Off ₹5 Lakh in Debt With Proper Planning

Hi everyone,

Two years ago, I was drowning in ₹5 lakh debt from credit cards and a personal loan. I had a lot of stress because of that. It was looking impossible to get out of this trap. But I started to take some small steps after I researched and made my knowledge into some actionable steps.

Calculating the total amount: I tried to list all my loans, and figured out the total amount which I needed to pay. It was looking too much that got me nervous.
Tracking Everything I spend: I started writing down every single amount that I spent —yes, even chai. Some apps helped me with that, but honestly, a notebook & notes app was more than helpful.
Cutting back: Tried cut down unnecessary expenses like late-night food orders or window shopping. I also canceled subscriptions I barely used.
Extra income: Just to earn some more money, I began to freelance apart from my regular job. Doing that gave me an extra ₹10,000–₹15,000 monthly. It was very hectic, I would be honest about that. My goal needed that effort from me.
Focused repayments: I cleared the smallest loan first to feel motivated, then moved on to bigger ones.

My personal loan is paid and credit cards EMI will be closed in 2-3 months. I hope it helps people who want to do that same. All the best!
