Policybazaar vs Ditto

I'm looking for buying a Health Insurance Policy these days.

Can anyone please help me which online insurance platform will be better out of Policybazaar and Ditto? Pros and Cons? Which is more good in maintaining their consistent support not only at the time of policy purchase but also support in those tough times of hospitalization when actually a support is needed for claim settlement process.

Your personal experiences can help me as well as this community to know better about them.
Looking forward for your response/experiences...

Have been using Ditto for the past 3 years, satisfied with their service. There was a minor issues 1 year back as I had made a policy claim and the response time was a bit on the slower side - generally they're very prompt. But was soon streamlined after 1 escalation. Overall I would rate them 9/ 10.

Had spoken to Policybazaar also while taking the insurance, I found them slightly more pushy and a bit annoying that's why I didn't go ahead with them

Yeah, I agree, that's my concern too with Policybazaar, as soon as you visit their website after login and start exploring the plans, immediately within a few minutes, they start calling multiple times, multiple phone numbers, and over the call, they create a push/pressure to buy the plan -- Quite Annoying. After the purchase of the policy, even for a single piece of information/correction request, their response becomes quite normal or sometimes very slow. I have a fear of whether they are really going to help in the Claim Settlement of my Term Plan to my family or not?

That's why I just thought to explore Ditto for health insurance this time other than Policybazaar.
Anyways, Thank you for sharing your detailed experience of 3 years. It will really help me to decide on the right platform. Thank you!

Also now a days, Beshak is doing well. So the main comparison will be in between - direct insurer vs Policy bazaar vs Ditto vs Beshak. Which one will be best?
Yes, you're right.

Really need some on-the-ground reality and fact-based personal experiences here to solve this comparison cube..
So, if anyone knows anything related please share your experiences and help us as well as this community to find the right channel for their insurance journey.

Thanks in Advance!

I have been with policybazar since the last 5 years. They are very pushy and will hog you with calls for selling the policy. But they were the ones who suggested Niva Bupa for me at a time when Star Health was being sold like anything.
I have had to put two claims as of now. One was for my mother's dengue treatment. At first Niva Bupa rejected the claim. That was when policybazar stepped in after I contacted them. They explicitly told me to submit the platelet report which showed platelets below 1 lakh for my mother. I informed the hospital about the same and the claim was approved once the documents were submitted.
The second time I had to claim the insurance for my father's by-pass surgery which was approved instantly. The role of policybazar in this was to inform me to submit claim prior admission as this was a planned surgery and the process would be smoother which was true. The next thing was that they called me pro-actively to inform that 60 day pre and 180 days post hospitalization charges were covered in my insurance plan and hence I could claim tests and medicine costs which I knew but it was a good prompt on their part.
I know that this experience was partially because my health insurance was a good one but the small inputs and tips that policybazar gives is really helpful. They do have a separate claims team which helps a lot during claim process if it gets stuck.
As for Ditto, I haven't used their services. Never had to. But from what I hear is they are good at evaluating policies and suggesting policies but being fairly new are trying to cater more to a slightly elite clientele who can pay more premiums. But can't vouch for the same personally as I have not contacted them.

Don't go for any online platform, specially Policy bazaar.

I bought TATA AIA term insurance of 1 cr base plan from policybazar. Policy bazar smartly convert that 1 cr base plan into 50 lakh base plan and 50 lakh rider booster. This smart act do not change the benefit (means in case of death your family will get 1 cr), but by doing split like this customer like you and me have to pay overall 30-40% more premium. And moreover, by splitting your 1 cr base plan into 50 lakh in base plan and 50 lakh rider booster, policy bazar collectively and policy bazar agent secure their life time commission.

In above case, term plan of 1 cr , at the age of 25 for next 50 years is applied. If policy bazar proceed with 1 cr base plan , I have to pay around 8000-8500 per year. But by splitting 50lakh base plan and 50 lakh rider booster, my yearly premium goes as high as 12000. Always remember, do base plan as much as you wish, never go for rider in case of term plan because rider is expensive and rider is loop hole in IRDA guideline for getting more premium.

I got to know this game, because one of my friend's freind is in TATA AIA LIFE INSURANCE. He saw my file and told me about this. Then I went to nearby office of TATA AIA office, they told me same thing.

Now, I cancelled my term plan despite paying premium for 5 month I.e. around 5000, because policybazar mis sell policy to me. They tweak the plan in their favour so that they can earn life time commission as long as I pay premium. And it might be possible that they do this to thousands of people.

So, I would suggest that visit policy bazar to compare plan , and buy that plan offline from office of that company instead of policybazar.

I share this experience of policy bazar, ditto may don't do this. I don't know. My aim is to make community aware, this never happens again with anyone due to lack of awareness.

No bro, that plan which you are talking about has this feature to reduce premium, and this plan has cheapest premium as compare to other, but they should tell this about plan
