Regarding AMEX MR on EMI

Hi everyone,

I have never used the no-cost EMI option or any EMI option on credit cards till now. I do know that no-cost EMI is a scam. But here is the question:
I have an AMEX Gold card and I am willing to purchase an iPhone through it. I know that if I buy from the merchant on No-Cost EMI, I won't get the MR but if I purchase it directly without an EMI from the merchant and later convert it to EMI internally from AMEX App, can I retain those points?

Thanks

I think you can get MR points if you opt for EMI using safekey or Amex app (instead of at POS/merchant), However, this will not be a No-Cost EMI and there will be interest charged.

Yes, I do understand that if I used SafeKey or Amex App, there will be an interest and it works for me until I am getting points even if converting to EMI

EMI is a big scam so never go for thsi.In no cost emi we dont need to pay Interest but GST is applicable on each month emi i.e.18% so for rs. 100 emi we have to rs.18nevery month so its better if afford it on 1 time purchase go for it and dont convert it into emiunless you are unable to pay.EMI is a trap and most of the people did not know this and make unnecessary purachses.

If you purchase the iPhone directly using your AMEX Gold card and later convert it to EMI through the AMEX app, you should still retain the Membership Rewards (MR) points, as the points are awarded at the time of purchase. Converting to EMI after the transaction does not typically affect the points already earned.

However, I recommend confirming with AMEX customer service to ensure there are no exceptions for large-ticket items or EMI conversions.
