Why Gov banks like BoB, BOI are not giving Rupay debit cards by default on opening new account or new cards on expiry of old cards ? Does anyone noticed this ? I received in total 3 VISA card on renewal or opening new account. I wonder why I didn't got Rupay card instead of VISA.

Banks have agreements and partnerships with various card networks, allowing them to issue cards from all networks. However, if you specifically request a RuPay card, they will provide it.

I have one doubt. RuPay is India's own domestic payment network, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It's an alternative to international payment networks like Visa and MasterCard.

Bro, acceptance issue, Rupay Cards are suitable for domestic transactions. However, for international spending, except in countries like Singapore, Bhutan, UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, Rupay cards are not accepted. So, banks issue Visa or MasterCard instead.

Rural branches typically promote Rupay cards, assuming there won’t be significant international spending there. In urban areas, where international transactions are more common, Visa or MasterCard is the preferred choice.

u will get if u ask.. Default is always MC / Visa.. When you fill the acct opening the option is given

It depends on the account varient too. I have BoB account I got Rupay platinum DC
