Advice needed on cards to discontinue

I am an IT professional and currently hold multiple credit cards, most of which I use actively. I am looking for suggestions on which cards are no longer beneficial and can be considered for closure. The oldest card I hold is the HSBC Platinum, which I have had since 2004. Over the years, I have added several other cards to my portfolio.

My average monthly spending is as follows:
  • ₹20,000+ each on Amex MRCC, ICICI Amazon Pay, and IDFC Wealth cards.
  • Less than ₹2,000 on each of the remaining cards listed below.
Spending pattern per month:
  • Fuel (5-6K)
  • Two mobile bills: ₹1,900 and ₹1,400
  • Electricity (5-8K)
  • Groceries (10-15K)
  • School fees (60K/year)
  • Domestic flights (about once every 6 months) (approx 20k in 6months)
  • Dining (occasionally, around once a month) (4-5K)
  • Electronics (3-5k)
  • Society maintenance (paid via RuPay cards) (once in quarter 15K)
  • Miscellaneous shopping (20-30K)
I do not travel frequently but take one international trip approximately every two years.
Would appreciate any advice on which cards to retain/replace for their value and benefits, and which ones I can safely discontinue based on my spending profile.

🔍 Best Credit Cards to Keep (Based on Your Usage)

✅ Amex MRCC – Great for earning points. You use it well.
✅ ICICI Amazon Pay – 5% cashback on Amazon, no fees.
✅ IDFC Wealth – Excellent all-rounder: rewards, lounge access, and no fee

⚠️ Cards You Can Close or Downgrade

❌ HSBC Platinum – Oldest card, but no good rewards.
→ Keep only if you want to maintain credit history.

❌ ICICI Coral, SBI Simply save, SC Titanium – Outdated cards with poor rewards.
❌ HDFC Swiggy, Shoppers Stop, Tata Neu – Niche cards. Close if not using these services.
❌ One card – Nice app, but low rewards.
❌ Axis Flipkart, MyZone – Close unless Flipkart is your go-to.
❌ All RuPay Cards (except 1) – Keep just one for UPI or society payments.
❌ YesBank RuPay, IndusInd RuPay, PNB RuPay, Federal Bank Celesta – No real use

❓ Cards You Can Keep Only If Needed

🔹 YesBank Reserv – Keep if you need lounge or travel perks.
🔹 IndusInd Legend – Keep only if you benefit from dining/fuel offers.
🔹 Tata Neu Infinity – Keep if you shop at Tata brands like Croma/Big basket often

🧾 Final Suggestions for Pritam:

Keep only 5–6 cards: Amex MRCC, ICICI Amazon, IDFC Wealth, + 1 or 2 based on use.

Close unused ones before the next annual fee.

Keep your oldest card only if it helps your credit score.

Use IDFC/ICICI/Amex for most expenses like bills, groceries, shopping, etc.
