To invest in T-bills you will have to open a retail direct gilt a/c with RBI. The platform to open the a/c available online. As against this, you can also buy it from secondary platform through dmat a/c. Make sure that the platform is legitimate.

Treasury bills or T-bills can be purchased by opening RDG account directly with RBI. The account opening is online through e-kyc. T-bills are made available by RBI weekly with tenures of 91,181 and 364 days. T-bills don't work like saving certificates. But they are sold at a discount on the face value & you receive face value of T-bill on maturity. e.g- T-bill with face value of 1000 & maturity of 91 days will be sold by RBI at 985.22 approx.(considering 6% coupon rate) & you'll get 1000 rs on maturity of the T-bill
