What is Bank Seeding/ Aadhaar Seeding ?
Bank seeding, also specifically called Aadhaar seeding in India, refers to linking your unique 12-digit Aadhaar number with your bank account. This is done by providing your Aadhaar number and going through a verification process at your bank.Note :- Aadhaar Card Linking and Aadhaar Card Seeding are two separate things.

What are the Benefits of Bank Seeding/ Aadhaar Seeding?
- Enables Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT): If your bank account is Aadhaar seeded, you can receive government subsidies and benefits directly into your account. ( Apprenticeship through NAPS & NATS portal )
- More secure transactions: Aadhaar seeding can help to reduce fraud by verifying your identity during transactions.
- Easier access to banking services: With Aadhaar seeding, you may be able to access certain banking services, like account opening or balance inquiries, using your Aadhaar number.
Steps to Check Aadhaar Seeding/ Bank Seeding Status
Step 1 - Go to myAadhaar website ( https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bank-mapper)
Step 2 - Click on the “Bank seeding Status” option
Step 3 - Login with Aadhaar Option will appear, complete the Log in and the OTP verification
Step 4- After that you will get to see whether your Aadhaar is Linked with any bank account or not
Important Points to Note:-
- You can only link one bank account to your Aadhaar number at a time. If you want to Link your Aadhaar to a different bank account, or if your Aadhaar isn't linked to any account yet and you want to link it for the first time, follow the steps below properly
- For Aadhaar Seeding/Bank Seeding, there is only one way, and that is to visit your bank’s branch. All other online methods for linking Aadhaar with a bank account are for Aadhaar Linking and not Aadhaar Seeding
Here are the steps for Aadhaar Seeding/Bank Seeding at the bank:-
Step 1:- Prepare Documents: Gather your Bank passbook, Aadhaar Card, photocopies of both documents, and a passport-size photo.
Step 2:- Visit the Bank: Take all the required documents to your bank and approach the employees specifically for Aadhaar Seeding.
Step 3:- Fill KYC Form: Request a KYC form from the bank staff and fill it up with accurate information.
Step 4:- Fingerprint Registration:Complete the KYC verification process by registering your fingerprint as requested by the bank.
Step 5:- Submit Additional Documents : provide the photocopies of your documents and the passport-size photo if requested by the bank.
Step 6:- Completion: After completing the process, wait for a few days for the Aadhaar Seeding or Bank Seeding to be completed by the bank.
