You can hold the agent responsible if there is anything wrong. Otherwise, through online platforms, you might have to get in touch with customer care or other things. The best thing is to read the terms & conditions very carefully before buying any policy

Normally what i've observed is that Agents keep changing jobs especially in private insurance companies. So when you call them regarding anything, they will say that now they're working with a different company and will try to sell products of this new company...

So I see very little benefit in getting an insurance from an agent, unless you can find someone who will stick with their job throughout their career or someone who will help you no matter where they're working.
