Mostly depends on salary. They try to give you a limit around that amount if you're new.

Different Banks have different criteria. From my experience i've seen HDFC is usually generous with Credit Limits - it could go upto 4-5x of your monthly salary. SBI and Axis could offer upto 2-3X of your Monthly Salary, and Kotak will usually offer only upto 1X of your monthly salary
