Emi payment payment in part

I have a 100% clear payment history, but I am currently facing some medical issues. My EMI amount is ₹20,000. If I pay ₹10,000 instead of ₹20,000 on the EMI due dates and continue doing so, will it affect my CIBIL payment history? I plan to clear any overdue payments once I recover financially.

Paying only ₹10,000 instead of the full ₹20,000 EMI might seem manageable in the short term, but lenders treat this as a missed or partial payment. Even if you clear the remaining amount later, it could still be reported to CIBIL as a delayed payment, potentially lowering your credit score.

CIBIL and other credit bureaus track whether EMIs are paid in full and on time. Unfortunately, partial payments don’t count, and a single missed or delayed EMI can drop your score by 27–110 points or more. Worse, that negative mark could stay on your report for years, making it harder to access loans in the future.

Immediate Solutions to Prioritize Medical Needs :
✅ Speak to Your Lender ASAP – Many banks offer temporary EMI deferment, restructuring, or a moratorium in case of medical emergencies. Request relief options before the due date.
✅ Use an Existing Credit Line for EMI – If possible, use a credit card, overdraft facility, or personal loan to cover EMI while focusing on medical expenses.

Pro Tip: As soon as things settle down, the first thing you'll want to do is get term life insurance for yourself and health insurance for your family. It'll give you peace of mind and ensure everyone is protected for the future! 🤗
