ICICI & Axis Move Away from DreamFolks: What Does This Mean for Travellers & the Industry?

With ICICI Bank and Axis Bank reportedly moving away from DreamFolks following last year’s service disruptions, the airport-lounge ecosystem in India seems to be undergoing a major shift. Some card programmes tied to DreamFolks have already been closed or modified, and more banks/card-networks may follow.

This raises a few big questions for the industry:
  • Are banks right to pursue direct partnerships with lounge operators instead of relying on aggregators?
  • How significant is the risk to DreamFolks’ business model if major banks pull back?
  • Will travellers ultimately get more reliable lounge access, or just more confusion during the transition?
  • What changes (if any) have you personally seen with your bank/card’s lounge access perks?
Curious to hear everyone’s insights and experiences.

Has your lounge access been affected? What do you think this shift means for the broader fintech/loyalty ecosystem?
