Hello Everyone,
I'm new to MF. I'm confused with understanding the basics. It would be great if anyone could provide guidance from where to start. Any reference of websites, how to compare funds study material, etc
Great to see you taking interest in mutual funds and even planning to become an MFD, that’s a really good career path if you enjoy helping people with money decisions. If you’re just starting out, don’t worry. Most of us were confused in the beginning. The simplest approach is to first understand the basics.
Since you're just starting out, focus on the basics first: fund types, SIP vs. lumpsum, risk/return, expense ratios, etc. Once those concepts settle, everything becomes much easier.
For learning, AMFI is a good starting point. You can also use YouTube, but from my experience:
Finance with Nobita (1.5–2x speed): decent for beginners, but misses a lot of key points from the actual course material.
Their mock test videos: Average & helpful but not fully reliable.
ZFunds free mocks: Good for practice, but questions start repeating after 2 mocks.
Pass4Sure paid mocks (₹500 + GST for 10 tests): Totally worth it, most relevant, and you’ll see 20–30 questions overlap in the real exam.
For becoming an MFD, you’ll need to clear the NISM Series V-A exam. It’s manageable if you go through the workbook + good mocks. Fund comparison tools like Valueresearch and Morningstar are great once you're ready to explore actual funds.
Take it one step at a time, you’re on the right track.
