Actually it depends on the bank.
The higher probability is that the same card account will be there and no new entry.
Or else the issuing date will remain the same for your new network type as well.
And the previous Card will be shown closed.
take this into consideration that either conditions doesn't make any difference to your CIBIL.

I want to switch my axis airtel credit card from mastercard to rupay

Even i did the same thing, Good news is that old account remained same. However they charged the joining fee of 500 again for changing variant
How did you change the variant. The customer care told me to close the current card and apply again for rupay variant.

It varies from bank to bank, just go to branch and get the accuracy about switching cards

I asked for network change, they sent me new card and informed old card will be active for 45 days then it will be closed, all the transactions and pending emi will be transferred.
