Can anyone help me out. I am having hdfc tata neu plus and I applied for Swiggy hdfc because of the ltf offer. Everything was going good. I completed my kyc successfully. But after 3-4 days I got application rejection msg. I called customer support they mentioned that there is some phone number miss match issue with address, which initially made sense to me as my tata card is on another number and the current address was different when I applied for it. The support told me that the application is not fully rejected, I still have chance and have to visit nearby branch. I went to nearby branch and they were saying a complete different story of this being rejected because I already hold tata new plus hdfc card and the rejected was due to duplicate card request something like this. I asked to any way out but the bank credit card desk told there is no way out. Can any one please tell me is there any way of getting this card?

Check how old your Tata Neu credit card is. HDFC usually has a cooling-off period of 6 months for applying for new cards. Sometimes, it could just be 3 months, but applying within this period often leads to rejection.

As for the bank's help desk, they're not always very helpful, they might give vague answers without checking properly. Visiting another branch might get you a different explanation altogether.

May be you applied both the cards within 6 months. I have Tata Neu Infinity and Swiggy card both LTF. May be you should follow what the customer care told you to correct by going in branch. Pick another branch this time if there is another branch at your location.

Even with a high CIBIL score, credit card applications can be rejected. Here are some internal bank reasons:

1. *Income Criteria*: Banks may have minimum income requirements, and if your income doesn't meet their criteria, your application might be rejected.
2. *Credit Utilization Ratio*: If your credit utilization ratio is high (i.e., you're using a large portion of your available credit), banks might view you as a higher risk.
3. *Credit Mix and Age*: Banks prefer a diverse credit mix (e.g., credit cards, loans, mortgages) and a longer credit history. If your credit mix is limited or your credit history is short, you might be rejected.
4. *Recent Credit Inquiries*: Multiple credit inquiries in a short period can negatively impact your credit score and lead to rejection.
5. *Employment Stability*: Banks may prefer applicants with stable employment history. Frequent job changes or unemployment might raise concerns.
6. *Geographic Location*: Banks may have specific policies or restrictions for certain geographic locations(negative area etc).
7. *Internal Bank Policies*: Banks have internal policies and risk assessment criteria, which might lead to rejection, even if you meet external credit scoring criteria.

Keep in mind that each bank has its unique policies and criteria. If your application is rejected, you can:

1. *Check your credit report*: Ensure there are no errors or inaccuracies.
2. *Contact the bank*: Ask for specific reasons for the rejection (if not provided).
3. *Apply with another bank*: Consider applying with a different bank or credit card issuer.

Remember to always maintain good credit habits, such as timely payments and responsible credit utilisation, to improve your chances of approval.

Bank generally don't disclose rejection reason, even after rbi complaint if the card is rejected saying 'rejected due to bank internal policy'
