Using credit cards since last 16 years, till date no single rupee of fine or penalty. Currently my CIBIL Score is 804. Every year i travel free for atleast thrice free of cost (Including flights, hotels, food etc) in India and abroad also. I am holding axis banks 5 credit cards, yes thats right, they have new 4 card policy + 1 Citi bank migratd card = 5. Credit cards are very useful. I have my full control over my spends.

And thinking to close Standard chartered REWARDS Card because I didn't find any benefit on it.

typically you need 4-5 types max..

1) Online shopping / Travel
2) Utility Bills
3) Fuel
4) Offline shopping / Rail etc
5) Movies

If u have these covered then more than 10 cards is a waste.. sbi cb and amz pay icici shd cover most.. Fuel card is optional if u have high usage...Rest depends on where your usage is...
