Hi everyone,

I want to share something serious that happened with my ICICI Coral RuPay credit card & Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card and to get your thoughts.

My credit limit is ₹50,000(Combined). I had used the full 31k earlier, but before the billing date I repaid around 31k. The repayment is reflected in my iMobile app and statement.

Recently, I tried to make a transaction of ₹49,915 (for purchase of iphone 17 from Flipkart gets me a 2k discount & remaining amount paid through gift card balance), but it got blocked. I received a message saying my transaction was withheld. When I called customer care, they told me that my ₹50,000 is now being treated as a monthly spending limit because of Banks new Internal Policy, and even if I repay within the same billing cycle, I cannot spend beyond ₹50,000 total in that month.

This shocked me because:

  • Credit cards are supposed to be revolving limits.
  • I’ve previously used 100% of my limit, repaid before billing date, and reused it again without issues.
  • I never received any email/SMS/official notice about such a policy change.
  • Branch Deputy Manager told me there is no such “monthly cap” concept.

Customer care also said this is an “internal policy change” and no prior customer notification is required.

Has anyone else faced this recently with ICICI?
Is your card behaving like a monthly cap instead of revolving limit?

I’m planning to escalate formally, but before that, I want to know if this is happening to others too.

Please share your experience.

Thanks.
