Inquiry Regarding Upgrade to ICICI Sapphire Card

Hi,

I currently hold the ICICI Coral VISA card, which I received as part of my salary account, and it is offered as Lifetime Free (LTF).

I have received an offer to upgrade to the ICICI Sapphire card, which is an upgrade from the Coral card. The offer includes the option to choose between the Visa, MasterCard (with an additional Amex card), and Rupay variants, all of which are also Lifetime Free (LTF). Additionally, these cards offer benefits such as free lounge access and BOGO movie offers.

Could you kindly advise whether this upgrade would be beneficial? If so, which variant would you recommend? ALso, does it impact the CIBIT score (upgrading to a higher variant, as the ICICI Coral is my oldest credit card).

Thank you for your guidance.

Sapphiro card as an upgrade does not mean that your existing Coral card will close, that will remain as well. Most probably they will all share limits.

If your Coral card is Rupay or you already have some rupay card, there is no point of taking a rupay card as you don't need to hit any milestones for fee reversal as it's offered LTF. I had taken MC and Amex because having 2 cards means you will have 2 different cards on which you can take benefit of discount offers if required. You and someone else in family can use the card (offline purchase) simultaneously if required at different places. Billing of both card will be one combined bill.

If you think keeping 2 cards is hassle then go for Visa version. If you don't have any Rupay card then can consider Rupay as well.

I also got a call yesterday that I have sapphiro ltf offer but I didn't believe her, I also checked the app and there is no such offer
I also did not believe it at first, but I asked them to send mail from their official email ID (which checks out as a direct email from the ICICI bank domain). Also, I got the initial call from the RM assigned for my account, and I verified her details on my internet banking page.

So I was getting ltf sapphiro and I rejected it?

If it's being offered LTF, go for it.

No cibil enquiry.

You can avail the offer thru iMobile also, would take hardly 5 minutes.

Any variant is fine I guess... But usually they give mastercard and amex.
Not visa and amex.
They are offering a new card instead of the traditional approach where the existing card closes, and you only have an upgraded card.

Yes, Instead of a traditional upgrade, they will offer a new card, and all cards will share limits. I have been looking for a RuPay card from quite some time, and this seems like a good option. Thank you for sharing your insights.

I have also received it on first year free and got both amex and visa card with priority pass.
I may use it for one year and then close it. As latter they ll charge 3500 +gst. What's your take on it ?

Yeah, can do that; no harm :) If you are closing a credit account in a short time, It will not impact CIBIL also. But you can still check if they can waive the annual charges.
