HDFC Billpay payments showing as Rentals hence 1% cashback may not come

It is noted that from last few days credit card payments made from HDFC Billpay portal are showing rental payments on random basis...i.e. some are showing as HDFC Billpay while others are showing as RENTALBBPSNO. And people are not getting 1% cashback on this other kind which is getting recorded as rental. This issue is seen after 15th of this month. While I paid using HDFC Billpay..all my payments were done by 4th of July. Has anyone got the rentalbbpsno msg while paying Credit card bill from HDFC Billpay then you may be upto a bad surprise.

May be good idea to use Jio finance app or SBI Unipay for the time being. Meanwhile Axis Bank is also onboarded on BBPS.

Not so sure about the above as I saw elsewhere some people have got cashback on SBI card while others have not as few got rental one while others got normal one. In any case, better to wait it out when there is better clarity.

Same happened with me bro.
I paid my 4 credit cards bill on 26 July and it shows in statement as rental payment and also I didn't get cashback ,

I switched to HDFC Max savings Account only for this cashback now it's so horrible.

If anyone have latest update about this please....

For the time being pay through Jiofinance app or SBI Unipay using this debit card..you should get 1% cashback

This is inconsistent I made 3 payments for 2 got BBPS and for 1 got RENTALBBPS; either HDFC is still migrating or there is a bug (Hopefully) expected to be resolved sooner or later.

Now its clear

If the merchant name shows RENTALBBPSNO then it will not give 1% as the mcc is rental 6513. This is showing for Axis, SBI & Standard Charted only.

If the merchant name shows HDFC BILLPAY or BBPSBILLPAY then it will give 1% which is the case with most banks.

For RENTALBBPSNO banks use SBI Unipay or Jio Finance App.

Is it OK to pay all the bills via jio finance app only as we dont know which card will be marked as rental. I paid 30000 for my sbi cashbsck card and it got marked as rental, lost 300 cashback

I told in the post above only axis SBI & SC are showing RENTALBBPSNO

YOU CAN PAY ANY CC BILL WITH HDFC BILLPAY TO GET 1% WITH HDFC PLATINUM DEBIT CARD.

AXIS & SBI are now showing BBPSBILLPAY
Standard Chartered is now showing HDFC BILLPAY

Both the above are eligible for 1%

No banks are showing RENTALBBPSNO

@guptaharsh940 I made the payment now through hdfc biller section using platinum DC to check and can see the biller name changed to CCBBPSNO now. Before it was BBPSBILLPAY
